Quote of the Day

“I don’t like homework. It’s nauseating.”

Ready for Shingles

The framers finished the roof today and the shingle guys are coming tomorrow morning! Yipeeeee!

Almost Done!

The roof framers are almost done! They should finish tomorrow and, depending on how early they finish, the shingle guys might even start tomorrow! We’re praying the roof is completely done before the rain (and possibly worse) starts next week.

Roofing Takes a REALLY Long Time!

But things are moving along. Hopefully the storm that is headed our way won’t set us back any (i.e. tear our semi-finished roof off). Tom and his parents have been at the site all day bracing the porches and cleaning up scrap wood and other stuff that could potentially become flying debris. No matter what, though, we have a lot of rain coming this way...hopefully the crew will be able to start working again Tuesday or Wednesday.

Roofing Takes a Long Time!

We’ve had some weather delays, but progress is steadily being made. The roofers still have a few more days of work ahead of them before we can call the shingle guy to finish things up.

Quote of the Day

While reading an I-Spy type of book to Jessalyn this evening, we were trying to find different things on each page. I asked her to find a specific object and her reply, after a few contemplative moments was, “I would like to tell you that I can find it but, alas, I can not.”

More House Progress

The roofing crew has started work on the house. We’ve had some rain delays, but the guys have got a good start. Weather-permitting, we should have a roof and be ready for shingles by Wednesday!

All of the ceiling joists are in place, as well as the flooring for the attic.

Look Out Kindergarten, Here I Come!

First, a few comparisons (last year and this year):

Jessalyn was so excited to get to school, that she ran ahead of me (and then stopped to get a good view of the playground):

Making herself right at home:

Jessalyn had a great first day today. Luckily, I was able to hold back the tears until I left her classroom. She told me her favorite part of the day was eating in the cafeteria. And she really liked that her teacher read “The Gingerbread Man” and then sent the students on a scavenger hunt to find gingerbread cookies! I think it’s going to be a fun year...

Sweet Babies

Here are some photos that my mother-in-law took of the kids at the end of June. Thank you, Donna & Captain Ken, for the sweet outfits you gave the kids for their birthdays! :)
