First Haircut

Yes, it's true. I finally allowed Lee's curly, unruly, lovely, gorgeous locks to be cut. I didn't want to. Tom has been bugging me to do it for months. I just wasn't ready. I still wasn't ready. But his hair was getting in his eyes and finally at the ripe old age of two and a half (a month shy, actually), we did it. It does look cute, but he looks like a little boy now and not so much like a baby.

The good news is that he didn't lose his curls. He's still very curly. But the ringlets are gone, so I guess the many comments we've gotten from strangers about what a cute little girl Lee is are over. At least until his hair grows back out again! ;)

A Brand New Smile

After weeks of wiggling, Jessalyn's other top front tooth finally came out...when she accidentally hit her mouth on the bathroom counter! We pretty much had her talked into letting Joe, one of our two dentist uncles, "help" her get it out. At Sunday lunch today we heard a scream of excitement come from the bathroom, "MY TOOTH CAME OUT!" She was giddy as she told me, "I have a brand new smile!" and made the rounds to be sure everyone saw the recent accomplishment.

Lots of pulling, pulling, and more pulling in recent days.

Lee gets in on the tooth-pulling band wagon.

Overheard at lunch today:
Jess: "Joe, did you see my tooth?"
Joe: "No. I saw where your tooth used to be, but I haven't actually seen the tooth yet."
Jess, presenting Joe with the ziploc bag housing the tooth: "It's that little white thing in there."

First Day of First Grade

As predicted, Jessalyn was more than excited
about starting school today. And, as you can
probably guess, her mom was less than thrilled.

Jessalyn wanted to help make her own lunch!
And here she is waving "bye" to MawMaw and Brick,
who stopped by to bid her well on the big day.

Her report at the end of school was that she loves her new
teacher and she made lots of new friends. She especially enjoyed
the video in "Help" class (aka health class). I managed
to make it out of the classroom without crying (too much).

Lee's New Room

This is the bedding for Lee's new room. The striped material at the top is the bed skirt and the airplanes is the bed sheet (I also have a striped bed sheet to match the skirt). I don't normally buy crib quilts since babies can't use them, but I plan on using it on Lee's toddler bed when he moves out of the crib.

Here are the three canvases that I've been painting to go on his wall above the crib. His curtains are garnet and I think it's all going to look very nice together!
