Jessalyn was chosen as "Student of the Week" for her class! Her teacher said that she "has been working so hard in class and is also a great helper to her friends and teachers. Great job, Jessalyn!"
As student of the week, Jessalyn was to make a poster all about herself to present to the class. I was invited to have lunch with her today and to help her with her presentation. It was so much fun! Today was pizza day in the cafeteria and she loves it when she can "eat on a tray" rather than take her lunch box. After lunch, we went to her classroom where we sat at the front of the room and told everyone about the poster. She then fielded questions from each of the students. The most popular question was "What do you like to play with." There were many variations on this theme ("what do like to play with inside/outside/at home/at school," etc.). She was also asked, "What is your favorite game," "What is your favorite fruit," and "What is your favorite thing to eat in the cafeteria." She even sang a short song for the class!
I never thought for a second that my child was shy, because she's the furthest thing from it, but I just couldn't believe how much she SHONE being the center of everyone's attention! We both had such a wonderful time and I am so proud of her!
If you'd like to see her poster up close, check out the photos on her blog:
